About me

I am a 24 year old bladesmith and Youtuber, more importantly than that I am saved by the grace of God through what Christ did on the cross. I am currently a full time craftsman, and believe God had given me this platform to share the gospel and to be able to love, serve and encourage others well.

How I got started

I started off my journey into knife making as a 13 year old, with little to no knowledge of metal working, living in a suburb of Seattle. I spent a year watching hundreds of hours of youtube videos on how to make knives. I didn't seem to learn much in that first year, I rushed through my projects, and accepted sub par results because of it. I always enjoyed what I did, and it slowly grew on me. Eventually in early 2016 I heat treated my first blade, and finished out my first usable knife. After that I really dove into knife making, and went from spending a few hours a month, to 20-30 hours a week at it.

Spending that amount of time making, I really grew, and during the spring of 2016 I met two people who taught me and inspired my journey, Salem Straub, and Daniel O' Malley. Salem taught me how to design, and forge knives, as well as how to make damascus, or pattern weld steel. He has also answered hundreds of my questions, and shared many tips and tricks for knife making. Daniel is the owner and operator of Blade Gallery, a local knife store right outside of Seattle, and I was lucky enough to have him as a resource to critique my work. I brought just about every knife I made after April of 2016 to him, an he told me what I could be doing better, and called me out when I cut corners. Having my work judged by an amazing bladesmith like O'Malley really pushed me to do my best, and try new things to set myself apart. While I finishing high school, I was also finishing my journey in Boy Scouts, and in the summer of 2017 I became an Eagle Scout, and finished that chapter of my life.

Once I graduated high school, I moved to Montana to go to college, however part-way through my first year at Montana State University, my good friend Alec Steele came to visit, and decided he liked Bozeman enough to move from the UK. Alec asked me to work with him when he got to Montana, so I left MSU after only going part time for one year. I moved into a small apartment and shop out of town and made knives full time while I waited for him to get his Visa sorted out, and in November of 2018 he made the hop across the pond and settled into life in the rocky mountains. Since then Alec and I worked together on his youtube channel making swords, knives, and many other historic weapons and tools. Working on those project allowed me to learn many skills way outside of what I would have learned on my own; from casting, carving, machining, and areas of business it would have taken me decades to delve into. I’ve been very fortunate to have gotten to learn alongside Alec and the rest of the team, and learned a ton from my time there.

In early 2019 I decided to take my first pistol shooting class, as I feel that any able bodied young man should be able and willing to defend and protect others around himself. Shooting has since become a passion of mine, and in the late summer of 2019 I began instructing pistol shooting and have continued to do so. Driven by the conviction to be able to help and care for other people, a few days into 2020 I began an Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) course, because knowing medical is a far more likely way to save live than with a weapon.

At the end of 2020 Alec decided to head back to England again to spend time with family and set up another workshop. After his transition back, on the first day of 2021 I moved out on my own to to pursue my own business. Since then I’ve been setting up shop, making knives, and shooting video for my own YouTube channel.
