48 hour challenge Dagger
48 hour challenge Dagger
This Dagger was my entry into the 48 hr dagger challenge hosted by my friend Master Bladesmith Neels Van Den Berg of South Africa, I started this piece at Coal Ironworks shop in Anderson Indiana and finished it at my home shop in Montana after not completing the challenge on time. Over all there is well over 50 hours of work into this piece, and it sports a twisted W’s Damascus blade of 1084/15n20 high carbon steels. The guard and pommel are 954 aluminum bronze that was hand sanded to a high grit before a light bead blasting and antiquing to give the material an aged and darker look. The handle is sculpted with facets from a lovely block of desert Ironwood burl.
The dimensions of the piece are
7 3/8” cutting edge
1” wide blade
13 1/2” Over all length.
A unique stand or sheath can be made upon request for an additional charge, price depending upon complexity.
